UnitedHealthcare® Contract Negotiations

We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with UnitedHealthcare® (UHC).  There will be no lapse in participation under the commercial and Medicare Advantage participation agreements with UHC since the effective date of the new agreement will be retroactive to April 1, 2026.  Please read below for answers to some frequently asked questions (FAQs).

FAQs

Q: How does this new agreement impact me?

A. As a valued patient of Texas Tech Physicians (TTP), this now means that you can continue to receive quality care from our 700 in-network providers, and your in-network benefits will apply.

Q. I saw a Texas Tech Physician during the termination period, and my claim was considered out-of-network.  Will my claim be reprocessed?

A. Yes, once UHC reinstates TTP providers within their system, they will identify any claim that was submitted during the termination period of April 1, 2026, through June 30, 2026, and will reprocess those claims under your in-network benefits.

Q. I saw a TTP provider during the termination period and was considered a self-pay patient.  Will TTP file my claim with UHC?

A. Patients with Medicare and Commercial coverage, excluding those individuals who purchased healthcare coverage through the state marketplace, may qualify to have their claims submitted to UHC for consideration under their in-network benefits.  Limitations may include authorization requirements, timely filing requirements and other contractual or benefit-driven policies.  To confirm whether your claim may be eligible, please contact our customer service representatives at the campus where you received medical care:

Amarillo – 806.414.9720

Lubbock – 806.743.2898

Permian Basin – 844.660.3824

Q.  I have insurance coverage with UHC through the state marketplace (Group Number TXONEX). How does this affect me?

A.  TTP did not have a contractual agreement with UHC for their marketplace plan during the termination period. Therefore, your claims would continue to be considered out-of-network and would not be eligible for reconsideration.  To confirm your provider network status for your plan, please contact UHC or use its online provider directory.
